Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 27, 2026

Kindly is built on trust. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have. We believe in being straightforward about data practices — no surprises, no fine print designed to confuse.

Kindly is operated by Chambers Family Ventures (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy applies to all users of the Kindly platform at givekindly.co.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Account information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account.
  • Profile information: Bio, avatar photo, phone number (optional), and location (optional).
  • Posts and content: The needs, offers, and campaigns you post, including text, photos, categories, and any details you include.
  • Messages: The content of messages you send to other members through the Platform.
  • Reviews: Star ratings, written feedback, and tags you leave after exchanges.
  • Provider profile: Headline, skills, certifications, business name, availability, service area, portfolio photos, and pricing (if you create a provider profile).
  • Group membership: The group codes you enter and the communities you join.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: Pages you visit, features you use, posts you view, search queries, and timestamps.
  • Device information: Browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution.
  • Log data: IP address, access times, and referring URLs.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Operate the Platform: Create and maintain your account, display your profile to group members, show your posts, and deliver your messages.
  • Power AI features: Categorize posts, detect urgency, match needs with offers and provider profiles, generate response templates, and moderate content.
  • Send communications: Deliver notifications about activity on your posts, new matches, messages, and platform updates. Send email invitations when admins invite members.
  • Improve Kindly: Analyze usage patterns (in aggregate) to fix bugs, improve features, and understand how communities use the Platform.
  • Maintain safety: Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, and violations of our Terms of Service.
  • Provide group analytics: Show group administrators aggregate, anonymized statistics about group activity. Admins never see your private messages.

3. AI Processing

Kindly uses artificial intelligence to make the platform more useful. Here is specifically what that means for your data:

  • What is processed by AI: The text content of your posts (needs, offers, campaigns) is sent to our AI provider for categorization, urgency detection, detail extraction, matching, and template generation.
  • What is NOT processed by AI: Your private messages are not sent to AI services for training or categorization. Messages remain between you and the other conversation party.
  • Our AI provider: We currently use Anthropic’s Claude API. Per Anthropic’s commercial API terms, your data sent through the API is not used to train their models.
  • AI moderation: Content (including images) may be analyzed by AI for safety moderation — detecting inappropriate content, potential scams, or community guideline violations.

You always have the ability to review and override AI-generated categorizations and suggestions before they are applied to your posts.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Kindly:

Supabase (Database & Authentication)

Stores all Platform data including your account, profile, posts, messages, reviews, and uploaded photos. Handles authentication and user sessions.

Anthropic (AI Processing)

Processes post content through the Claude API for categorization, matching, and moderation. See Section 3 for details.

Resend (Email Delivery)

Sends transactional emails including group invitations and account notifications. Receives the recipient’s email address and email content.

Vercel (Hosting)

Hosts the Kindly web application. Processes standard web request data (IP address, browser information) as part of serving the application.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We share data with these services only as necessary to operate the Platform.

5. Who Can See Your Information

Other members in your groups — Can see your profile information, your posts, your provider profile (if created), and reviews you have given or received.

Members you message — Can see the content of your direct messages with them. Other members cannot see your private messages. The number of responses to a post may be visible, but not who responded or what was said.

Group administrators — Can see member lists and aggregate group analytics. Administrators cannot see your private messages or the details of your exchanges.

Organization accounts — Can see aggregate analytics across their groups. Organizations cannot see private messages.

6. Data Retention

  • Account and profile data: Retained until you delete your account.
  • Posts: Retained until you delete them or your account is deleted.
  • Messages: Retained until both conversation parties delete their accounts.
  • Reviews: Retained even after account deletion, but anonymized (displayed as “Former Member”).
  • Usage and log data: Retained for up to 12 months, then deleted or aggregated.

When you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or necessary to resolve disputes.
